Meet Lindelwa Rangula
Some of you may remember Lindelwa as a top-rated SweepStar on the SweepSouth platform. Lindelwa joined SweepSouth on 27 January 2017, and from the moment she started, she made a lasting impression. “I first heard about SweepSouth from a friend and joined the wonderful company in 2016. I love meeting new people and the company has helped find me a job.” Like many, Lindelwa started the SweepSouth journey to connect with customers, as a proud SweepStar.
Life took a challenging turn when Lindelwa’s daughter, Aphalele, had a stroke at the age of five, leaving her paralysed on the right side of her body. “She wasn’t born like this. My daughter started to have fits when she was five years old. After the fits, she woke up from a coma and I was told the right side of her body was no longer working,” Lindelwa shared. Although Aphalele is not completely paralysed, everyday tasks were nearly impossible for her.
The Make A Day, Change A Life campaign – part of the SweepSouth Foundation, was launched in 2020, during the national lockdown. The initiative highlighted the needs of a different SweepStar each month. The first SweepStar to be selected was Lindelwa Rangula. SweepSouth successfully helped to raise funds for an electric wheelchair, with the hope of empowering Aphalele and improving the quality of her life.
After 4 years we reached out to Lindelwa to catch up and hear about her daughter’s journey over the past few years. Here’s what they had to share.

Can you share a bit about your journey with SweepSouth?
“My journey at SweepSouth was wonderful and I’ll always be grateful for what the foundation was able to do for my daughter.”
How has the last four years been since receiving a wheelchair for your daughter, Aphalele?
“The wheelchair has been helping her to move around on her own. My daughter struggled to get to places before she got the wheelchair but now she can go around without having anyone pushing her.”

What are some small changes that you noticed since receiving the wheelchair? How have things improved since?
“The wheelchair has been helping me because it makes it easier for me to get to places.”
How have the last four years been for you since receiving the wheelchair?
“It has been a great experience being able to move around without asking for help from people.”
Do you have any goals or dreams for the future?
“One of my goals is getting educated and becoming independent. My dream is to become a lawyer and to create campaigns that will help disabled people.”
We are proud to be a part of Lindelwa and Aphalele’s story and to have them be a part of our 10th birthday celebration. As we celebrate this milestone, we look forward to many more years of making a positive difference in the lives of our SweepStars and their families.
